Jessica Perlman is a Los Angeles-based director whose narrative and commercial work breathes with a unique style that empowers the frame. She has directed short films, commercials, and music videos for brands and agencies like Facebook Creative Shop, SWEAT, BMW, DirecTV, Zeiss, and Panavision. She recently worked with Facebook Creative Shop and fitness app SWEAT to direct a national digital campaign that garnered millions of views in just the first 48 hours.
Her latest narrative project “Breathing Underwater,” showcased at the Lonestar Film Festival and Westfield International Film Festival in 2018 and was acquired for distribution by Boyish Media in 2019. After the success of her short film, she went on to join the editorial team for projects with Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, and HBO.
Jessica also worked on the Millennium DXL camera reel, which showcased at Cinegear in 2016 and 2017. Additionally, she apprenticed with Shane Hurlbut, ASC where she established her expertise in camera, lenses, lighting, and framing, but more importantly, refined her visual language.
Jessica’s extensive experience in post-production combined with her time with Shane Hurlbut has positioned her to be a versatile director. The understanding of these interconnected pieces of filmmaking has enabled her to thrive in collaboration while producing innovative work.
